Consumer Product Safety Commission finds new space - Houston Business Journal:

The 63,582-square-foot space will put the CPSC slightly closert to the District and replacethe commission’s current testing laboratory at the former Nike missile fire controo radar site in Gaithersburg. CPSC will pay Alexandria Real Estatre Equities Trust morethan $2.5 milliom (or $40.60 per square for space in the one-story warehouse and testing facility. Jones, LaSalle served as the GSA’s broker in the “The CPSC was shoehorned into a seriew of Department of Defense building made for other purposes,” said Mike McGill, spokesman for the GSA. The CPSC has occupiedf the Nike missile sitesincew 1975.
“This new space offers better environmentap control a better use of spacre and more currentbuilding codes,” McGill said. “It also allows for expansion within therented facility.” The new site will host indooer product tests on items such as furniture, clothese and toys.
