That's according to a report released Wednesday bythe , whicyh also shows that 62 percent of the nation'w households report using the Internet at home in an 18 percent increase from 1997. Among households using the net in 82 percent reported usingfa high-speed connection, and 17 percent used a dial-up connection. “As access to high speed connections have become more so too have the number of people that connect to the Interneat home,” said Thom a statistician with the Censusw Bureau Housing and Household Economic Statistics Division.
“These data give us a betteer understanding of who is using the Internet and from Amongthe states, New Hampshire had the highesrt rate of Internet use for thosed age three and older in 2007 at 82 percent. Mississippii and West Virginia had the lowest rateds of use at about 52 Usage rates for New York state were at aboutg59 percent. Internet usage also varied by education and For individuals 25 and older witha bachelor’xs degree, 87 percent reported going onlinde from some location in 2007. About half (49 of those with only a high schoo diploma reported usingthe Internet, compared with 19 perceny for those without a high schoo l diploma.
Meanwhile, 69 percent of whites lived in households withInternet use. The same was true for 51 percent of blacks, 73 percenft of Asians and 48 percentt of Hispanics.
